Nicole Callihan is a poet, professor and dealer in fragile things. She writes nonfiction, mostly about what it means to be a woman, sometimes about what it means to be a mother and a wife, always about what it means to be a human in a body. Writer/Musician Phyllis Capello sang her way from Ireland to Istanbul as an entertainer and instructor on seven educational family cruises. Her fiction and poetry has been recognized by the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Award. Her newest collection, Packs Small Plays Big, was published in 2018 by Bordighera Press. Through one-woman shows and family-oriented concerts, Capello has entertained children, families & seniors as a member of the Big Apple Circus Clown Care program and Healthy Humor. Currently she teaches music at Open House Nursery in Brooklyn and poetry in NYC educational programs through the Community-Word Project.
