Rosi Hertlein: Violin and Voice

Me, Myself and Eye presents Rosi Hertlein, a German born violinist, singer, composer, producer, painter, creator of installation art and poet. Her musical background is divided equally between the worlds of improvisation and contemporary classical.

In 1995, she moved from Hamburg, Germany to New York City where she collaborated with Joe McPhee, John Tchicai, Warren Smith, Pauline Oliveros, Cecil Taylor, Reggy Workman, Howard Johnson, Steve Swell, Ivo Perelman, Perry Robinson and many others. She is featured on more than 20 recordings, including "Two Letters I'll Keep" with her own group "The Improvising Chamber Ensemble".

Besides her concert activity, she performs her own poetic writing with the Jazz and Poetry Choir Collective.

She received 3 "meet the composer" grants and the prestigious Legig House grant.

She has worked as Production Assistant to composer Baikida Carroll for theater productions since 2001; teaches violin, ukulele and voice and holds improvisation master classes at colleges.
