"Hearts on Our Sleeves," A Workshop led by Karen Gibbons

  • 440 Gallery 440 6th Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

In this workshop we will hold truth by wearing our hearts on our sleeves—

We can best fight for justice by being true to our hearts. In yoga philosophy we call this satyagraha translating to "holding firmly to truth”. This philosophy emphasizes nonviolent resistance rooted in deep moral conviction and compassion.

Being true to MY heart means finding community for creative self expression.

In this workshop we will create intention related to resistance. Maybe this means you will recall your favorite protest slogan, or conjure images or words that lift your spirit. We will then use this inspiration to decorate a jacket, shirt or other item of clothing, so we can wear our hearts on our sleeves and put on our garments of resistance whenever we choose.
