Founder of My Hands, My Tools, Vickie Fremont, presents her book The Hummingbird Project, which comes from the Native American legend that inspired Wangari Maathai, the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. The book serves as a a handbook which prioritizes both creativity, ecology, and hands-on learning through the making of dolls, masks, and other art forms with one’s own hands—our first tools. At this event, Ms. Fremont will run a simple workshop using recycled materials to make puppets which combine ecology, climate awareness, and art making techniques to spark creativity for all ages.
