One Breath Rising: Darryl Alladice

440 Gallery is delighted to present poet/storyteller Darryl Alladice in an afternoon of powerful, thought-provoking performance and artistry through words. Darryl’s readings are informed by his training as an actor and storyteller—he brings his poetry alive when he reads. For the past three years Darryl has been curating a monthly spoken-word series at the gallery, as a component of One Breath Rising, a non-profit dedicated to the presentation of arts in the African American tradition. Alladice grew up in Harlem and Brooklyn and his work has been produced at various venues around the city including Schomburg Research Center, Queens Public Library, and Dwyer Cultural Center. Darryl is a volunteer atLiveArts/New Yorkwhere he is part of a team of teaching artists who work with students from theJames Baldwin Schoolto introduce them to theater and dance arts.
