Music & Art in the Gallery: Park Slope native Liz Hogg returns to 440 Gallery for her first solo recital in the space. Hogg, a classical and electric guitarist/composer, has performed as part of the duet concert series with Carlos Pavan, and will present a unique program of classic-to-contemporary music from the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria and Brazil. Works by Matiegka, J.S. Bach, Villa-Lobos and Krenek will take the form of a historical exploration of changing guitar techniques and sounds. Hogg’s music, layered with the multi-faceted collages of Shanee Epstein that are on display in the gallery, will surely set the tone for a beautiful fall season.
Liz Hogg is a graduate of the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College with a Bachelor of Music, and she received a Master of Music in guitar performance at Mannes School of Music. She currently serves on the faculty of several schools throughout NYC.
