Music + Art in the gallery: 440 Gallery presents guitarist Tomas Rodriguez.

For his second performance in our space, Tomas Rodriguez will perform selected pieces, including several from his new recording, “Ruminations.” Tomas has developed a unique repertoire for solo guitar, one that is rooted in his ancestry and musical inspirations. His works draw on the folk and classical traditions of Spain and South America and are composed as a rich sound that is clearly, fervently his own. With artist Jo-Ann Acey’s musically-influenced Swing series as a backdrop, Tomas’s guitar will fill the room with the grooves, harmonies and mesmerizing tones of the Americas, Europe and Africa.

Tomas Rodriguez has captivated audiences nationally and internationally. He has performed at the International Festival of the Guitar in Lima, Peru, Brooklyn Museum, Merkin Hall, Trinity Church, the New Jersey Center for the Performing Arts. As a dedicated music educator, Rodriguez founded and directs an innovative after-school guitar program in NYC that aims to teach basic guitar skills to Latino young people. He is a registered Suzuki guitar instructor and maintains a private music studio for families in Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan.
