Young Artists Workshop

young artists.jpeg

Inspired by Let This Be America, the current gallery show by artist Trish Townes.

Trish Townes makes a very distinct statement by painting on both sides of a transparent surface. When we view her paintings from the front or from the back, we can see how the patterns and colors of different American and foreign cultures become merged as one image. In Saturday's workshop we will explore what Trish is trying to say through her artwork. We will then create our own art using a transparent paper called “vellum” that will allow us to draw on both sides. Art educators Susan Greenstein and Janet Pedersen will have many samples of patterns for us to use as an inspiration. Please come by for our first workshop of 2019 and create your own double-sided artwork!

Great for kids ages 5-12
