Please join 440 Gallery in welcoming the warm days of May with our monthly Sunday afternoon series "Me, Myself and Eye." This month’s solo performance by bassist/composer Michael Formanek promises to be a creative matchup to the paintings by Ellen Chuse on view in the gallery. Formanek is a composer of works for jazz and classical ensembles, and he has played with jazz greats such as Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Fred Hersch and Freddie Hubbard to name a few. He currently performs with Brooklyn guitarist Mary Halvorson and drummer Tomas Fujiwara and many of his recordings have earned coveted five-star raves. Michel Gentile, producer of "Me, Myself and Eye," notes that as an educator, Michael Formanek teaches bass, composition and improvisation in a wide range of locations.
