One Breath Rising: Susana Case

Susana2.jpeg

Personal, semi-autobiographical, political—this is how poet Susana Case describes her work. Come listen to Susana as One Breath Rising presents a late-day reading in the gallery that is sure to have us thinking in different ways. Susana’s poems use wit, high-energy cleverness and a certain daredevil sensibility to shine a light on some of life’s most difficult questions—and sounds quite appropriate for our world and times today. Case is the author of six books of poetry, most recently an erasure poetry book based upon news coverage of the war in Syria, Erasure, Syria, from Recto y Verso Editions. She is a professor and program coordinator at the New York Institute of Technology in NYC. 440 Gallery is pleased to have Case and One Breath Rising bring outstanding spoken word to the art space and we look forward to this thought-provoking afternoon among the artwork on display.
