Young Artists Workshop: Making Art of out Type

Making Art out of Type, Letters & Words

Inspired by Artist Vicki Behm’s Retrospective Show

When we look at Vicki Behm’s new show, we notice that she cleverly incorporates words and letters in many of her drawings. Her work surprises us and makes us smile when we see how she mixes up type and fonts in different styles and sizes. Join 440 Gallery art educators Susan Greenstein and Gail Flanery to make artwork that celebrates the use of typography and images. We will take our inspiration from Vicki’s art and work with materials that provide a wide selection of type to create with. How will you combine your image with words and type? Will you choose to hide letters in your picture or will you turn letters into actual things? Whatever you decide to do, you’ll have a lot of fun using letters in new and unusual ways.

Perfect for kids ages 5-12, suggested donation $10
