440 Gallery presents Tomas Rodriguez in a late-afternoon performance of solo guitar. Rodriguez has developed a unique repertoire that is rooted in the musical heart of the Latin world, specifically the folk and classical traditions of Spain and South America. His programs often draw upon the works of Venezuelan harp masters Juan Vicente Torrealba and Ignacio Figueredo, Malian virtuosos Toumani Diabaté and Ali Farka Touré, as well as contemporary flamenco. Tomas is a dedicated music educator and teaches basic guitar skills to young people, as well as having taught at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
