Me, Myself and Eye: Briggan Krauss

440 Gallery’s monthly concert series, curated by Michele Gentile, presents an afternoon of solo jazz by saxophonist and composer Briggan Krauss. Krauss’s instrumental technique is as much about unexplored tonal possibilities and shape as it is about a signature sound. In 2014, Krauss led a weeklong residency at John Zorn’s The Stone that highlighted his years as a key player in NYC’s creative music scene. Musical colleagues have included Ikue Mori, Jim Black, Wayne Horvitz, Nels Cline and Elliot Sharp. Jazz Recordrecognized Krauss’s Art of the Saxophone Vol. 2 (Bandcamp) as a top ten recording of 2016. He continues tapping in to the musical tradition of bringing together raw conceptual energy with a rotating cast of improvisers in a monthly series at Brooklyn’s Firehouse Space.
