440 Gallery’s celebrated 20th Annual Small Works Show proves that the most valued work in a prized collection may very well be the smallest. Creativity and innovation vie for space in this exhibition with artworks measuring no more than 12 inches in all dimensions. We are delighted to have Pam Wong (she/her) as this year’s juror. Wong is highly regarded for her curatorial and art writing featuring, among other venues, the Gowanus creative community. Several awards will be given to participating artists, including the Jim Manwell Memorial Award, selected by the artist members of the gallery; the People’s Choice Award, chosen by gallery visitors; and the Juror’s Choice Award, selected by Wong.
“It was an honor to serve as juror for 440 Gallery's Small Works Show. There were so many wonderful submissions (nearly 1,300)! I wish I could have included everyone but space forced me to narrow my choices down to 85. This was incredibly difficult. I selected pieces that stood out to me and connected with each other – whether by subject, medium, materials, colors, or patterns. My goal was to present an eclectic array of artwork with wide appeal. I hope all who visit the gallery will enjoy these small, remarkable works.” — Pam Wong
