CATHERINE ORROK
Catherine Orrok's work is resolutely abstract (for the most part), reflecting her desire to explore the basics of perception through color and the delineation of space on a flat surface. But, the spaces she creates are also personal, and reflect choices that are intuitive. The paint is applied in such a way that her hand is obvious in the touch of the paintbrush to the surface bestowing her unique energy to the work. The materiality of these paintings highlight the dichotomy of the experience of our perceptions and the real world existence of paint and canvas, or paper, or panel, or whatever surface supports the pigment.
