Thomas Millioto: Lecture-Recital

Dr. Thomas Millioto will give a short lecture-recital featuring selections from “Choix de mes fleurs chéries ou Le Bouquet Emblématique,” Opus 45 (pub. 1814), composed by one of the first, and one of the greatest six-string guitar virtuosi, Mauro Giuliani (1781 – 1829). These charming selections are character pieces for the classical guitar, where each piece evokes the essence of a given flower. A question and answer session will follow.

Thomas Millioto graduated in 2007 with a doctoral degree in classical guitar performance, while also studying performance on the lute and the 19th century classical guitar. He has been awarded the “Cecile Insdorf Award for Excellence in Teaching” by the President of CUNY Hunter, and was also an instructor for the Professional Studies Division of the Brooklyn Queens Conservatory of Music, which commissioned an original work from him for its 2008-2009 composers concert.
