Darin Strauss, Lauren Grodstein, and Idra Novey

Darin Strauss is the international bestselling author of the New York Times Notable books Chang and Eng and The Real McCoy, and the national bestseller More Than It Hurts You, now out in paperback. Also a screenwriter, he is adapting Chang and Eng with Gary Oldman, for Disney. The recipient of a 2006 Guggenheim Fellowship in fiction writing, he is a Clinical Associate Professor at NYU’s creative writing program. His memoir, Two Lives, will be out in August 2010, and will be excerpted in GQ in March.

Lauren Grodstein’s new novel, A Friend of the Family, is a New York Times Editors’ Pick and a Washington Post Best Book of the Year. Her other works include the Amazon breakout book Reproduction is the Flaw of Love and the short story collection The Best of Animals. She teaches creative writing at Rutgers-Camden, where she helps administer the MFA program.

Idra Novey’s first collection of poems, The Next Country, received the Kinereth Gensler Award from Alice James Books and was released in 2008. Her writing has appeared in Slate, The Paris Review, A Public Space, and The Believer. Her translations include two books of poems and a novel by Argentine writer Vizconde de Lascano Tegui forthcoming from Dalkey Archive in 2010. She currently teaches at Columbia University, where she serves as director of Columbia's Center for Literary Translation.
