440 Gallery Artist :: Richard Eagan
Richard Eagan is one of the gallery's original artist-members. After developing a career as a cabinetmaker and architectural woodworker, he was visited by an eerie series of dreams about his family, childhood and Coney Island. Prompted by his dreams he, along with fellow artist Philomena Marano, formed the Coney Island Hysterical Society, an activist/arts organization which has been active in and out of Coney Island ever since.

Whether in works evoking the haunted charm and architecture of his beloved seaside playground or in more abstracted work, it is all referred to as constructed painting. 440 Gallery founder Nancy Lunsford had this to say: "Richard continues to produce industrial strength grace: painted constructions that convey beauty, loss and the persistence of hope".

Richard's lovely artist/alter ego Miss Kay Sera ("what will be, will be") can be found at most 440 openings and events. Stay tuned!
